Compton's Most Wanted Punk, Rollin' 4 Deep..

West really goin on. Uh-huh, A triple shot of CMW. Yeah, I know this blog ain't called Compton-Only Remix, but I haven't updated in a while and need more CONTENT, so while I'm digging around for some stuff I'm actually looking for (most notably, some Boss & Conscious Daughters remixes..), you're gonna get treated to what I find along the way.

That said, these are all damn good, so don't sleep on ANY of these remixes. If it ain't at least decent, I ain't gonna trouble you with it (and the very reason I'm not posting some mediocre DFC remixes I found last week..).

Streiht Up Menace (remix) - This is a funky remix of an already dope jam. I'll go so far to say it actually surpasses the original. Different drum break, with some tight stereo-panning (something I always liked about CMW's production) and new funky laid back keyboard lead. I think this might be the first DJ Slip production without the help of the DJ Unknown. If so, he doesn't miss a beat. Original version appears on the Menace to Society OST.

Growin' Up in the Hood (remix) - You think "More Bounce to the Ounce" loops are played out? Check this out, then get back to me. Remixed by Unknown & Slip, Original version appears on "Straight Checkin' Em" LP.

The Hood Took Me Under (remix) - The Isaac Hayes sample from the original is layered with another loop (I should know what this is, it's the same as Boss' "Deeper" & Main Source's "Just Hangin' Out", just can't place it right now). Anyway, the additional sample really turns it out. Remixed by DJ Slip & Unknown, orignal version appears on "Music To Driveby" LP.
